Low Carb Hot Chocolate

Today my Hubby & I braved the cold temperature to finish decorating the outside of our home for Christmas. We added lighted garland and bows to the fence in the front yard. Now, I’m happy to say, we are officially finished decking our halls!

When we came in from decorating, we were chilled to the bone. So, I decided to whip up some DELISH hot chocolate–low carb, of course. This is seriously the BEST hot chocolate I’ve ever had, AND IT’S LOW CARB!!! This is pretty much the recipe right off the back of the Hershey’s Cocoa can, and I just made a few low carb modifications. So, without further ado, the recipe for low carb hot chocolate:

Low Carb Hot Chocolate:
1/2 c Splenda
Dash of salt
1/4 c cocoa powder (I use Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa — I prefer deep, dark chocolate flavor)
1/3 c hot water
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 c cream (I don’t use milk — milk has lots of carbs, cream has none)
2 c water

Combine Splenda, salt, cocoa in a saucepan. Add the hot water & mix well, heat on medium high until bubbly (stir constantly to prevent scorching). Add the 2 cups cream, 2 cups water, & vanilla. Stir together & heat on low until the chocolate reaches your desired temperature. Once warm enough, pour into your favorite Christmas mug, top with whipped cream (sweetened with Splenda of course), & sprinkle with cinnamon. ENJOY!!! 🙂
